Modelling Elly

Elly loves Wild Friends!
Finally, a boy-girl collection, perfect for brother-sister combis.

Noey got a turn at being a model recently when Elly put out a search for little boys and girls to showcase their new collection.

DD would, when he's done rolling his eyes, tell you that I love getting involved in such things. I immediately volunteered Noey, then started to stress about it, because if you know my son, you'll know that he's more than a little particular about wearing clothes. And changing them. If he had a choice, he wouldn't wear anything at all! Lately, he has also, erm, been resistant to wearing shirts (as opposed to t-shirts) and would always start yelling "itchy!" when I try to get him into one.

I know, what was I thinking right??

After agreeing to the shoot, I started to panic a bit about how Noey was going to screw up the shoot by being non-cooperative and how it might be a while before Audrey & Carol speak to me again. I experimented at home with incentives for Noey and finally with a combination of gummies plus getting him to wear a singlet inside, managed to get him to wear his shirts at home.

Thankfully, the shoot was scheduled to take place at the beach. Noey LOVES the beach, so it wasn't hard to psych him up for it.

Come Saturday morning -- whaddya know? He totally took it like a pro. "You have to wear a shirt, ok? Remember? Like I told you," I said. He obligingly changed out of his t-shirt, looked curiously at the shirt I was holding out for him to wear -- a cute animal print one -- and  just shrugged it on. He also did not complain at all that it was itchy, which is a testament to the comfort level of Elly's shirts. I didn't even have to break out the gummies! I was thrilled and super relieved!

I ended up giving him a gummy some time later on (these are gummy multivits) as a reward instead.

For all the pre-shoot stress, we ended up having a lovely morning down at Siloso beach with 3 other cute kids and 3 sets of Mummies and Daddies. Everyone came prepared with toys and incentives and Noey caught on very quickly. "You change your shirt, and someone will give you a sweet," he said knowledgeably. Hah.

I think he had fun. I know I did. "Where's Uncle Kelvin?" he'd ask, referring to our very personable photographer, when he didn't see him. DD also had a good time shooting one of his favourite subjects. I think he got some nice shots, though he hasn't had time to review and edit them yet. It helped that the shirts were really just too cute!

Run, run, run! He got a bit confused by the instructions to run, hold the kite up, and smile. Could only do 2 out of 3!

What are you looking at?
Sand play with Victor.

The sand and the sea, and a nice handy bucket to scoop it all up in. What's there not to love!

As for little Naomi, the sea breeze was so relaxing, she ended up napping in her stroller for at least 1.5 hours. That's totally unheard of.

Little Ms Cutie Pie, finally awake! And dressed in an Elly dress for the occasion!

Me and baby girl, looking a little squinty in the light. Yes, I'm the one responsible for her china doll fringe. Feel a bit guilty about it!

Maybe my son might have a future as a model after all.

And if you like the shirts, there's more where that came from. Elly is having a Little Lantern Party on Sunday, 11 Sept to launch their new collection. Click on this link to the event invite for more details. It isn't just for little boys -- as usual, there are more new dresses for little girls in this new collection, in simply adorable fabrics.

Like Elly's Facebook Page and share this post about the upcoming collection and you could win an Elly dress or shirt too!

We are looking forward to it!

  1. Ooh, the boy shirts are so nice (and of course the dresses are even nicer)! Noah looks nice in all of them :)

Sean is going through a very fussy phase with his clothes too - he ONLY wants to wear 'BLOO' clothes now and he doesn't like shirts or polo tees either. Arg!

  2. Those are very very nice shirts! And Noey looks like a pro in these pics already. Get ready for more endorsement opportunities (and the rolling of D's eyes. haha!) ;)

  3. GREAT!! Finally some nice clothes for the boys. BUT, Thaddeus has to wait awhile more to fit into shirts nicely.

And woot, my little Lee Hom is a budding model!

p.s: thankfully our husbands are a supportive bunch (even with the rolling eyes). K went along with my idea to bring Thaddeus for mothercare's casting call. HEE!

  4. Such cheery pictures! And so fast that Noah caught onto "wear a shirt, get a gummy"! (we also "bribe" nat with gummy vitamins. LOL!)

Noah looks very handsome! Wish I could make it for the lantern party but I'm stuck at home. I bought one of their dresses a few months back for Anya to wear next CNY.

  8. Love the shirts, such lovely illustrations and cheery colours. Noey looks like a natural in all those shots...its hard to get a 2-3 year old to be so cooperative throughout photos shots. Definitely model material!

  10. @Debra I symphatise! Noey keeps wanting to wear his home clothes or pajamas out! At least he seems to like these shirts. Let's see how cooperative he is when there are no sweets. Haha.

@Corsage@A Dollop Of Me I think it helped that he was at ease with the photographer. Don't know about more endorsement opps -- just glad he did ok on this one!

@Candice Yes, bookmark this for when Thad grows bigger, which will be soon at the rate he is growing! I also wanted to go for the mothercare casting call but was too lazy :P

@lilsnooze Yes, the beach was a good location. He catches on v fast for these things! Gummy vits make me feel less guilty! Heh.

  11. @intheweehours Thanks! Looking forward to seeing Anya in the dress :) Rest well!

@pei fen Yes, this sort of thing, he catches on v fast. It was the fruit mentos that one of the mum's brought that he was after! He got one, and after that kept hanging around trying to get another!

@fanyin Wah, you're so sweet, but I'm not photogenic. I'm 10 times more likely to be caught by the camera making a stupid/weird face than looking good. But the kiddos are quite photogenic, thankfully!

@Rachel Hi there, thanks for stopping by! I've visited your blog before and was very impressed by your dedication to home schooling! Thanks for the kind words. I think it helped that he was having fun on the beach.

@Nish Yes, such a coincidence that we were that just that very same week you mentioned it! It is nice. We should go back again together!

@Vanessa You want to hire him? :P
